Pregnancy yoga workshop with jazz

Have you been doing yoga for a while and want to continue practicing during pregnancy? Or do you have no yoga experience and want to start now? Then this workshop is almost a MUST... Yoga during pregnancy is a wonderful idea! Gentle yet physically challenging, yoga will get you sweating right now. Yoga is good for your head and relaxes you and your baby. Yoga is good for your body, relieves pregnancy discomforts like back pain and heartburn, and is ideal preparation for birth. In this workshop, Jazz will show you what to look for in your yoga practice and what modifications are safe and accessible. Subsequently, you can attend all of our Basic classes in the schedule and be very flexible with your time!

Including documents to look up and take notes! As it is important to us to give you a good introduction to pregnancy yoga, the workshop lasts 3 hours. But don't worry, we'll take short breaks in between and you can of course do everything at your own pace :)

Yoga Community Day 2024 at doktor yoga

We launched Yoga Community Day in 2022, and we are delighted to be celebrating our passion together again this year: Yoga!

Yoga stands for union and that's exactly what we want to reflect as a yoga community. That's why we're opening our doors to you on October 26: The program includes a wide variety of classes for just €5 each! We want to take the meaning of community to a new level. On this day, we will yoga, breathe, sweat, laugh and relax together and take time to chat after the classes. Because one thing is clear to us: if more people practiced yoga, the world would definitely be an even better place!

So mark the date in your calendar, send it to your yoga buddies, or use the opportunity to finally convince your friend or mom/dad to do yoga. Let's just have a great time together on the mat!

In our workshop series "Anatomy Deep Dive", Nils combines interesting facts and useful exercises from the field of yoga & physiotherapy. The focus on December 7 will be on the shoulder area - suitable for both yogis and yoga teachers. The workshop on Sunday will then focus on anatomy for yoga teachers.

Physio meets yoga: focus on shoulders
Saturday, December 7, 14:00 - 16:00 (2h)

In the workshop "Physio meets Yoga: Focus on the shoulders", we dive deep into the anatomy and functionality of the shoulder joint and the adjacent joints in order to develop a better understanding of the shoulder region in yoga practice. This event is aimed at both yoga enthusiasts and yoga teachers who want to deepen their practice and guide their students safely through yoga exercises. Focus: Thoracic spine, cervical spine and arm

Workshop Content:

  • Alignment and cueing

  • How the thoracic spine, cervical spine and shoulder joint work together in common asanas

  • Avoidance of shoulder pain

Injury prevention and dealing with common complaints:

  • Shoulder impingement

  • Wrist problems

  • Neck tension

  • Numb fingers

Myth Busting

  • Shoulders away from the ears

  • Yoga as a one-sided practice

  • Individual questions

Feel Good Shavasan Adjustments

Aim of the workshop:

Gain a sound understanding of the anatomy of the thoracic spine, cervical spine and shoulders and how they interact.

Common complaints such as shoulder pain and neck tension can be improved or avoided through conscious movement and alignment in yoga.

Overview of the structure of the joints, their function, the relevant moving muscles and tendons as well as the function of the intervertebral disc and the rotator cuff and how you can incorporate this into your alignment and cueing.

Workshop: Anatomy 4 Yoga Teachers
Sunday, December 8, 14:00 - 17:00 (3h)

In this 3-hour workshop, we dive deep into the fascinating world of human anatomy and explore how different structures of the body - such as muscles, tendons and bones - work in the yoga practice. Yoga teachers and advanced practitioners will get a clear overview of the different functions, their role in movement and how they work together in the body.

Workshop Content:

  • Basics of human physiology

    Here we create an overview of the interplay between bones, muscles and tendons. You will learn how these tissues carry us through the asanas and which physiological processes take place during yoga practice. We get an overview of the anatomical structure of the different joints (shoulder, spine, hip, knee) and how this influences the yoga practice.

  • Injury prevention and dealing with common complaints

    Learn how to prevent and deal with injuries such as yoga butt, piriformis syndrome, shoulder problems and knee pain. The correct alignment and adjustment of asanas plays a key role in this.

Aim of the workshop:

This workshop provides you with in-depth knowledge of human anatomy and physiology. After the workshop, you will be able to apply this knowledge directly to your yoga practice. You will learn how to prevent injuries and safely deal with discomfort in order to guide your students through their yoga practice in the best possible way. This workshop is designed to be practical and offers the perfect balance of theory and practical exercises as well as individual questions.

About Nils.

Nils is a passionate physiotherapist and yoga teacher from Klagenfurt am Wörthersee. Nils' yoga classes incorporate his expertise in health, anatomy and rehabilitation. He combines scientific knowledge with his yoga practice.

He is committed to helping people understand their bodies holistically and develop their full potential. Various further training courses in sports physiotherapy, visceral osteopathy, respiratory physiotherapy and biomechanics round off this.

In his free time, Nils practises yoga and many other sports such as Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, climbing and cycling.

11:00 - 13:30: The Initiation - Handstand Exploration
Getting upside down can be a tricky experience! Hence overcoming the fear and developing the adequate physical support are going to be your main allies on this fun journey. In this introduction to handstand, you will build the components of a solid foundation for balance. Using partner work, you will understand body positioning, arm support and how to use your core and legs for a steady and fruitful progression. Finally, Alex will show you how challenging the simple straight handstand with various shapes and transitions can help us find ease and a sense of comfort in our practice. Alex will assist you in finding which approach suits you best on this journey, and how to make it a fun and enjoyable process.


15:00 - 17:30: Motion Creation - Hip Mobility

Join Alex in this unique workshop that seamlessly intertwines hip mobility, strength practice, and the heart-centered path of Bhakti yoga. Set aside the confines of the traditional yoga mat as we collectively challenge the boundaries imposed by its four corners. In doing so, we aim to expand the regions of our brain associated with creative motion, fostering a deeper connection to the artistry within our practice.

Throughout the workshop, we'll delve into efficient techniques for enhancing flexibility, providing accessible approaches regardless of your experience level. You will learn to integrate mobility and flexibility training into your yoga practice, with insights into anatomy and physiology.
